Cork City Garda Impound
SOS Recovery provides 24 hour vehicle recovery and removal services to An Garda Síochána Cork City division for vehicles seized and detained under Section 41 (S41) of the Road Traffic Act and vehicles subject to Technical Examination/ PSV Examination.
To reclaim a vehicle seized under S41 you must obtain a Garda Release Form from a Cork City Garda Station. There are four specific stations assigned to issue Cork City Garda Release Forms. These are Anglesea Street Garda Station, Togher Garda Station, Mayfield Garda Station, Gurranabraher Garda Station. A Garda Release Form from any other station will not be accepted.

To reclaim your vehicle, please follow the procedure below.
- The registered owner of the vehicle must attend a Cork City Garda Station, as listed above assigned to the issue of Garda Release Forms.
- Once a ‘Vehicle Release’ form is obtained by the registered owner contact must be made with the Cork City Garda Impound to arrange for the release of your vehicle.
- All outstanding charges for the detention, recovery, and storage of the vehicle must be discharged in full in accordance with Article 5(1) before the vehicle will be released and the Garda Release Form must be presented at the storage compound when collecting your vehicle. Payment for charges may be made in cash, by credit or debit card in person only
- In certain cases, the Gardaí may direct that the vehicle should not be driven and is required to be towed out of the storage compound. In such cases, the vehicle will not be released until a recovery vehicle has arrived at the compound for collection of the vehicle.
